All controlling the Mount Watzmann (2713m) is watching over the valley of Berchtesgaden and Schoenau a. Königssee. In the east the Königsse with the highest rock crashes of the east alps, the Watzmann Ostwand, in the west the debris-fulfilled Wimbach-valley is situated to its feet. Hocheck, Mittelspitze and Südspitze are the summits. 500 meters below  from the central point to the east the burr pulls of the Watzmannkinder, which ascends after the Watzmannscharte to the small Watzmann, also mentioned as Watzmannfrau (wife).

The Watzmann is well-known far beyond its closer homeland than one of the most beautiful mountains. Its east wall with almost 2000m height is only reserved to experienced climbers. However each normal mountain climber can climb on a maintained way to the summit passing the Watzmannhaus.
